Most companies do not deliberately create a disconnected digital presence. It happens one perfectly reasonable decision at a time.
The corporate website gets redesigned. A division creates its own site. Product information goes into a separate database. Investor content moves to a specialized platform. Marketing adds landing pages, campaigns, and more technology along the way.
Every decision may make sense at the time. But after enough years, vendors, and internal teams, the pieces stop working together. Information must be maintained in multiple places. Branding becomes inconsistent. Customers struggle to find what they need. Employees create manual workarounds because the systems behind the websites cannot communicate.
At that point, the company usually decides it has a website problem.
What it may actually have is a digital ecosystem problem.
A Redesign May Fix Only the Most Visible Symptom
The oldest, ugliest, or least secure website naturally gets the most attention. Redesigning it may be necessary, but a more attractive website will not automatically solve the less visible problems surrounding it:
- Product information that must be maintained in several places
- Websites and databases that cannot share information
- Inconsistent branding, terminology, and customer experiences
- Manual processes that waste employees’ time
- Separate vendors making decisions without understanding the larger system
- Search visibility that could be lost during a poorly planned migration
A redesigned site can look better while remaining disconnected from the systems and people it is supposed to support. It may simply put a more attractive surface over the same underlying problems.
A website is no longer just a collection of pages. It is one part of a larger business system. Fixing it properly requires understanding everything around it.
Companies avoid these problems when they recognize that every new website, platform, and database affects a larger digital environment and involve a partner with the experience to plan accordingly.
STRATTEC Security Corporation provides a good example. As its brands and digital needs evolved, STRATTEC did not simply hand a series of disconnected projects to unrelated vendors. Its long-term partnership with Trivera gave the company a team that already understood its businesses, audiences, technology, and goals.
One Company, Several Different Digital Needs
Trivera has partnered with STRATTEC Security Corporation and its brands for more than 15 years. That continuity has allowed STRATTEC to address new digital needs as they emerge without losing sight of how each decision affects the company’s larger digital ecosystem.
STRATTEC Security Corporation engineers and manufactures automotive access systems, including locks and keys, power-access systems, and latches for vehicle manufacturers. STRATTEC Aftermarket Solutions supplies OEM-quality replacement locks and keys to automotive locksmiths and distributors. BOLT Lock makes locks for trucks, trailers, equipment, and outdoor gear that can be operated using the owner’s vehicle ignition key.
Although the three businesses are closely related, their websites serve very different people and purposes. The challenge was not correcting years of poor decisions. It was continuing to meet the distinct needs of each business without creating the duplicated information, disconnected systems, and inconsistent experiences that often develop as companies grow.
Most recently, STRATTEC needed its refreshed corporate brand translated into a modern website serving OEM procurement teams, engineers, investors, shareholders, prospective employees, and other audiences. Its investor information needed to remain on a specialized third-party platform while still feeling connected to the new corporate brand.
Meanwhile, STRATTEC Aftermarket Solutions needed a better way for locksmiths and distributors to search its extensive product offering, along with more efficient tools for managing that information. BOLT Lock needed a more secure, usable website that would help consumers find the right lock for their vehicle and relied on some of the same product information.
That created several separate but related needs:
- Bring STRATTEC’s new brand, mission, and positioning to life online
- Create clearer paths for several very different corporate audiences
- Connect third-party investor resources to the new visual identity
- Give locksmiths and distributors a better Aftermarket product-search experience
- Provide internal teams with better product-management tools
- Help BOLT customers find locks compatible with their vehicles
- Modernize and secure the BOLT Lock website
- Share appropriate product information between BOLT and Aftermarket
- Protect established search visibility throughout the transition
Without a coordinated strategy, those needs could easily have become a collection of isolated website projects. STRATTEC’s decision to work with an experienced, long-term digital partner allowed each project to solve its immediate business need while strengthening the larger digital ecosystem.
Connected Does Not Mean Everything Has to Be the Same
The solution was not to force everything into one enormous website. STRATTEC’s corporate site, investor resources, Aftermarket Solutions site, and BOLT Lock site serve different audiences and perform different jobs.
A connected digital ecosystem does not require every property to be identical. It requires understanding what should be shared, what should remain specialized, and how all the pieces should work together.
Trivera redesigned the STRATTEC corporate website within its existing ConcreteCMS environment, reorganizing the content around the company’s capabilities and creating clearer paths for its different audiences. A dedicated investor subdomain retained the necessary third-party functionality while extending STRATTEC’s new visual identity.
For Aftermarket Solutions, Trivera developed a new website with an enhanced product database and custom search tools. The BOLT Lock website was then updated to integrate with that same database.
That connected approach created value on both sides of the websites.
For customers:
- Easier product discovery
- Clearer navigation
- More consistent product information
- Better experiences across devices
- A more cohesive experience across the STRATTEC family of brands
For STRATTEC’s internal teams:
- Less duplicated product management
- More efficient content updates
- Better consistency across brands
- Improved security and flexibility
- A digital foundation that can accommodate future needs
That is the difference between redesigning what customers see and improving the digital infrastructure the business depends upon.
The Launch Should Be the Beginning
The redesigned STRATTEC corporate website launched in March 2026. During its first four full months, compared with the same period in 2025:
- Active users increased 10 percent
- New users increased 10 percent
- Sessions increased 6 percent
- Events increased 12 percent
Those numbers indicate that the new experience is helping more people find and engage with STRATTEC, but the real value is the foundation underneath it.
Trivera’s work with STRATTEC and its brands has continued through SEO, Google Ads, analytics, content development, SEMA trade show support, and ongoing UI and UX improvements. User behavior insights have also helped BOLT Lock improve its homepage and develop content for new opportunities, including the fishing-lock market.
A website should not be a finished project that immediately begins becoming outdated again. It should be an active business asset that evolves with the company, its customers, and its opportunities.
The Value of a Partner Who Understands the Whole Business
STRATTEC has avoided many of the digital problems that plague growing companies because it has treated its agency relationship as an ongoing partnership rather than a succession of unrelated projects.
There is a practical advantage to that 15-year relationship: accumulated knowledge. Trivera understands how STRATTEC, BOLT Lock, and Aftermarket Solutions relate to one another, who their websites serve, and how their technology and marketing have evolved. That context helps us recognize when one initiative can solve several problems and prevent a change in one place from creating complications somewhere else.
The longer a productive agency relationship lasts, the less time the agency should spend relearning the business and the more value it should create by connecting the pieces.
STRATTEC still owns the business decisions, priorities, and vision. Its smart move was choosing a digital partner with the knowledge and experience to translate those priorities into solutions that work individually and collectively.
A vendor can redesign a website. A digital partner should help a company avoid the larger problems that disconnected website decisions create.
What This Means for You
If your company has multiple websites, brands, databases, or outside platforms, do not begin by deciding which website looks the worst. Begin by understanding the entire environment.
- Inventory the whole ecosystem. Identify every website, subdomain, database, third-party platform, and digital resource your customers or employees use.
- Find the duplication. Determine which products, documents, messages, and other information must be updated in multiple places.
- Examine both sides of the experience. Look at how customers move among your digital properties and what employees must do behind the scenes to support them.
- Decide what should connect. Some information and technology should be shared. Other platforms need to remain specialized. The goal is not sameness. It is coordination.
- Stop treating every request as an isolated project. Before adding another website, platform, or campaign, determine how it will affect everything already in place.
This is more than a conventional website audit. It requires business strategy, user experience, technology, content, SEO, analytics, accessibility, and security working together.
The right digital partner does more than build the next thing you ask for. It helps make sure the next thing strengthens…and is strengthened by…everything around it.
