Mitchell International Airport is Milwaukee's major airport (and Chicago's third airport). Despite the fact that Mitchell Airport is a county agency, they are self funded, so any solution developed would need to be budget sensitive. They had previously contracted another company to develop their Internet presence, with unsatisfactory results.
Strategy
Trivera worked to upgrade the look of the Mitchell Airport Web site, add functionality, build in some additional value,
and do it within a tight budget.
In addition to the Web site itself, Trivera developed a password-protected Media-only site to give the local news outlets a way to gain self-access to information on busy news days (Snow storms, terrorist actions, construction tie-ups, etc.)
And in conjunction with their existing advertising agency we executed an email campaign to send a regular newsletter to travel agents, linking them back to a travel agent news sub-site.
The site has since been expanded to accomodate new features: realtime flight arrival and departure information and realtime parking lot availibility, and most recently the creation of a mobile Web site, built specifically to meet the needs and fit the format of the growing population who access the Web via wireless devices.
Design and Technology
Trivera’s “creative technology” allowed us to construct the site to take advantage of existing outside sources of information (Weather and flight information) to keep costs down. A flash-based terminal map was built, allowing site visitors to become familar with the layout of the airport before flying in or out of Mitchell Airport. Content self-administration capabilities were built into the site to eliminate the cost of ongoing maintenance.
