Backup Linux System administration/help Desk Specialist

Trivera is seeking an intern or entry level backup Linux System administration/help desk specialist. We are seeking an individual looking for his or her first step toward a career as a professional Linux systems administrator. The perfect person for this position is a highly motivated, self starter familiar with Linux system administration in an advanced environment. He or she will assist in the management of a network of Linux-based Web servers, setup and maintenance of client and other Web hosting and email accounts, and provide ongoing support for clients requiring assistance via email or phone.

Pleasant, helpful demeanor is necessary to re-enforce our culture of amazing customer service. Trouble shooting skills, and a basic proficiency in PHP are necessary.

Responsibilities:

• Help Manage Linux Servers under instruction from Senior Network Administrator
• Provide technical support via phone, help desk and email.
• Work with diverse clients systems
• Monitor and respond to system alerts
• Account management, setup, and creation via command line
• Perform miscellaneous job related duties as assigned.
• Maintain system tools and client applications written in PHP and shell

Skills Required:

• 2+ years Linux experience
• Knowledge of Domain Name Servers, MySQL, and Apache installation and configuration.
• Understanding of CGI, PHP and HTML
• Understanding of Cpanel useful
• Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
• Ability to work well with customers over phone or email
• Ability to install Linux server software
• Understanding of basic network topologies and protocols
• Basic understanding of switching and routing.

Trivera offers a smoke free, friendly and casual work environment with flexible work hours. Anticipated call volume is no more than 1 call per hour average, generally less. When not helping customers, candidate will be performing system maintenance tasks or performing light PHP programming assignments. Compensation according to skill level.
